January 22nd...naptime blog

Hello-
To all the moms out there... Girls I have a piece of advice YOU GOTTA HAVE YOUR OWN HOBBY!!

We all love our children and adore all of their cute little personalities and love it every time they do something new. We all love to talk about how excited we are to have had a great nights rest the first time they sleep through the night and how incredible it was the first time they said Mama, but it is inevitable that there will be a week or two with out the excitement of a new milestone. Do you ever feel like ,where did the last week of my life go? Or, oh my god I have three inch roots! I think we all tend to spend so much time watching our little darlings that we loose track of who we are and what we like. Do we really like grilled cheese scraps for lunch?Probably not, but we do love who we are sharing that crustless sandwich with. Our husbands/boyfriends fell in love with us because we are smart, funny, beautiful, and interesting (well a girl can at least hope thats why) and we are even more extraordinary now! I think it can be quite easy to get lost in motherhood and forget how to be a woman too. When you have an activity that is all your own you will feel like you have a break during the day to tend to you. The more you can "treat" yourself to your hobby the less redundant your day will seem. You may even find that you are a better mom. Here are some tips to finding a great mom friendly hobby....

-needs to be something you can start and stop easily
-each session should only require about 45 min, most likely you will be doing your hobby either during nap time, before they wake up in the a.m., and after they go to bed at night.
-can be anything that is going to take your attention away from mom stress

These questions may narrow your search...
-what did you love to do as a kid?
-what are you good at?
-what have you always wanted to be good at?
-what do women with out children do during their spare time that you would love to try?? (come on ladies keep it clean)

Do something for yourself you deserve it!

DAD TIP: Dads please be supportive of your partner's new hobby, she will be happier if she has a little bit of time to herself this will help her to remember who she really is inside.
